The Big Book

The 12 and 12

24 Hours a Day

In the US, we are getting ready for the holiday known as Thanksgiving.

Along with turkey, family, drama, …

and football, we set aside time to reflect on the year as pause for thanksgiving.  We practice gratitude in all our affairs.

First, what is Gratitude?

When you first got sober, did you have a lot of Gratitude?

What Changed?

How important is Gratitude in your Recovery?

What are some things you are most grateful for?

Have you ever sat at a Gratitude Table?

Have you Ever been to a Gratitude meeting?

What about the Phrase Attitude of Gratitude?

How do practice or show Gratitude to others?

To God?

We have calls

Bronte

Keven

Alex

What step has helped you with Gratitude?

Who are your grateful for?

What are you Grateful for?

“Gratitude should go forward, rather than backward.  In other words, if you carry the message to still others, you will be making the best possible repayment for the help given you.”

(As Bill Sees It - pg. 29)

Have you ever read the story, “Gratitude in Action” on pages 193-199 in 4th Edition Big Book

What were your thoughts about this story?

Do you have any favorite passages? ;-)

Have your ever found yourself sober and ungrateful?

How did this make you feel?

What did you do to start to feel grateful again?

Do you think Gratitude could be thought of as one of the foundation stones of recovery?

Final Thoughts?

The Big Book

The 12 and 12

24 Hours a Day

Here in the US we are celebrating Veteran's day where we honor those who have served in the military and particularly, those who are veterans who have fought in war.

In this light, our guests host are also veterans of a different type of war.

The battle with addiction.

Since I have longtimers here in the studio, I’m going to ask you about your experience strength and hope for the newcomer.

How and when did you get started in AA?

When and where did you sober up?

Where did you go to our first meeting?

How did you first learn of AA?

Can you recall the formats of some of your first meetings?

What contributions did you make to help grow those early meetings?

What has been your experience with new meetings and new clubs being formed?

What are some reasons why new meetings are formed?

Who were some of the influences in your early sobriety?  How did they help?

What has been your experience with 12th step work?  Has this changed with time?

How did members contact each other?  Has this changed with time?

What has been your experience with treatment centers?

How has the fellowship changed for the better since you came in?

How has the fellowship changed for the worse since you came in?

Looking to the future, what are some AA strengths?

What are some AA weaknesses?

How have meetings changed over time?

How has sponsorship changed over time?

Has there been any changes in the newcomer?

What are some of the benefits of being a longtimer?

What are some of the costs of being a longtimer?

What are some of the risks of being a longtimer?

Why should longtimers go to meetings?

Should longtimers have a sponsor?

What are some of the challenges of sponsoring a longtimer?

As a longtimer, what would you like to say to the new person?
